McKenzie’12 (l) & Divis (r) accept 2017 Hockey Humanitarian Award

Don Bosco hockey would like to extend its congratulations to former captain Justin McKenzie ’12 on winning the NCAA Hockey Humanitarian award for 2017, considered by many to be one of college hockey’s two most prestigious awards.

Justin (Jmac, as hes fondly remembered) and his collegiate teammate at St. Michael’s College Danny Divis, co-founded Hope Happens Here in 2015.  Hope Happens Here is an organization dedicated to raising awareness and reducing the negative stigma surrounding mental health issues among collegiate athletes.

Jmac and Divis are the first ever co-recipients of the Hockey Humanitarian Award (HHA).  The Hockey Humanitarian Award is given each year to college hockey’s finest citizen — a student-athlete who makes significant contributions not only to his or her team, but also to the community-at-large through leadership in volunteerism.

The Bosco Hockey community is extremely proud of Justin, Danny and Hope Happens Here.  To read more about Justin and Danny’s award, check out the additional links below or catch them August 5th at Fenway Park as they throw out the first pitch!
